My Geek Confessions

My Geek Confessions #166 – 08/28/2015

Listen Later

Welcome to our episode for August 28, 2015!
It’s a little slower week as we await our time at Anime Fest 2015. Man of Steel 2 is likely no more, we see the new assassin for the new Assassin’s Creed movie, and the sides of Civil War are revealed. Sadly there was a shooting on live TV that affected other TV programs out of respect, Galaxy Quest is coming to Amazon, and BK makes a terrible decision.

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”

* Here’s another look at the new Starz series of Ash vs Evil Dead with another trailer. I get more excited for the series with everything I see.

* Here’s a great fan edit with If Harry Potter was The Villain. I say even without some of the creative editing there might be a pretty good case for it.

* A very interesting video posits that in the Karate Kid, Daniel is the real bully of the movie and that Johnny is actually trying to turn his life around. I must admit…the argument does definitely have its merits. Right up when they called Mr. Miyagi a “Demon Sorcerer.”

* Burger King had an epic fail. It took out a full-page ad in The New York Times and made these videos and more, to try to convince McDonald’s to partner with them to make a McWhopper on International Peace Day on September 21st. They wanted to have one temporary store in Atlanta with co-branding everywhere. However, McDonald’s turned them down pretty quick, even calling out their lack of doing anything other than creating “awareness” and for trying to make McDonald’s look like a fool and instead telling Burger King to try a phone call next time. It still remains to be seen if McDonald’s or someone else will step up to join BK. But for now it just looks like Burger King made a bad PR move without thinking things through 100%. If you want to check out the site they made to try to promote the McWhopper, follow the link to www.mcwhopper.com.

* The guys at How It Should Have Ended made another edition of The Villain Pub to make a few jabs at the new version of Joker for Suicide Squad. As they should.

* Screen Junkies is back again with another great Honest Trailer, this time for Mad Max: Fury Road. They bring up some of my biggest points about the movie with a gratuitous amount of water being wasted when there is a water war.
