My Help Comes From The Lord
Psalms 121:1-2
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Psalms 121:1-2 NIV
A lot of times we succumb to the temptation of making challenges seem bigger than our God. There's a popular saying that what you focus on gets bigger.
If you keep your focus on your problems and challenges - little surprise, you have more of the problems and challenges.
On the other hand, however, let’s examine what happens if you keep your focus on God instead:
your understanding of His ways increases
your faith grows
you will begin to see possibilities and find ways to come out of the challenges.
Therefore, don’t you think it is time to shift your focus?
Shift your focus to God away from the challenges. Away from the problems.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?
The simple act of lifting up your eyes to the mountains gets you out of a depressed state;
“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalms 34:5 NIV
What are the ways you may begin to lift your eyes to the God:
worship God
We become like unto those whom we desire or worship, therefore when we worship God we tend to become like Him and our faith grows thereby
listen to other people’s testimonies & recall some of yours
testimonies are powerful in helping us see possibilities
declare what God is able to do on your current situation
there’s a saying that a closed mouth doesn’t get fed. which in turn reminds me of one of my mom’s sayings: it is with your mouth you will say what you’re not interested in eating.
like the Hebrew boys - declare your even-if-love for God while in the midst of the challenge
“Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.””
Daniel 3:16-18 NIV
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth
