This is the first episode in my experiences with a fractured hip. This is a sudden, unexpected, life changing event. Nearly 20% of people with hip fracture die within a year and over half will never return to the same mobility abilities they had before the fracture. The injury is painful and may take over a year for recovery. During that time, the impact on the patient and those who surround them are profound. I am sharing my story because there is little information about it, despite it's prevalence. I hope you never have this experience, but if you do, I hope this podcast will provide some comfort and knowledge that will help you and/or your caretaker.
