High friend,
Welcome to this week’s episode of Necessary Reminders. The podcast/newsletter hosted by yours truly Danielle Olivarez, where I discuss how I manage to make the habitual a ritual, and teach you what I learn on the way.
This episode is a special one and an especially long one because I have a lot to say!
I’ve missed talking into a microphone (my iphone 17) and sharing my thoughts with you in the same loving and hopefully entertaining way I do with my best friends (they eat my wisdom up.) This idea has been boinging around in my brain for a few months now, and I’ve ironically delayed doing it because of stupid perfectionism. There’s so many ways I could present this substack to you and I’m sure I’ll play with them all so what’s the rush in getting it perfect now?
We’ll dive into this concept of being perfectly imperfect and my personal favorite: changing your mind.
Hope you listen to this imperfectly perfect episode and enjoy. I highly recommend making yourself a cup of chamomile tea or lighting a nice little indica dominant J, burning palo santo, and tune in like it’s our weekly facetime <3
This month’s highlights:
* These two girls show me what true friendship and appreciation feels like! Truly healing any mean friend trauma from my past left in me. We remind each other to constantly allow for the inbetween moments of change to move us through instead of jackhammering our way through our discomfort. I love them <3
* Spirals remind me we always move and come back. When we change our mind things stay the same except our feelings and perspective. I think that’s cool.
* I’m a Didion girl myself, so I got this book in hopes of changing my mind on Eve Babitz but we’ll see. I’m down though.
* My best friend since I was 9 is having a baby soon and I can’t wait for our daily facetimes to involve a new gabby girl! Solanch and I have seen every phase of friendship through and have lived to tell the tale stronger than ever before. We inspire each other to be ourselves everyday, and I don’t know who I’d be without this woman as my “secret lover” (her mom swore!!).
Take class with me in LA:
