This episode honors the mom figures in our lives who inspire or encourage our dreams of road travel by paying tribute to one mom in particular: our host Laura Borichevsky’s mom, Jackie Hughes. Before #vanlife… before Instagram…  before she could even drive: Laura’s belief in her ability to do road travel was shaped by her mom’s experience driving across the country when she was in her early twenties, and it stuck with her because Jackie’s journey was full of purpose, bravery, and quite a bit of fun packed into a handful of days and a tiny 1975 Camaro.

She started Diversify Vanlife in 2019 in response to the lack of representation of BIPOC in the road travel community. His podcast, Driving the Green Book, guides listeners along his road trip with Janee Wood Weber to the historically Black towns and destinations featured in the Negro Motorist's Green Book, published from 1936-1967. 

Noami and co-host Anaïs Moniq explore the nuances of navigating life on the road during a pandemic, holding solidarity with the Asian-American community and how the Green Book paved the way for Diversify Vanlife to become a living resource for nomads of color.
