My Mother at Sixty six by Kamala Das

Listen Later

Once the poet was going to catch a flight from Cochin and her mother had accompanied her to the airport. The mother was sixty six then. She looked 'wan, pale as a late winter's moon'. The poet seeks to reveal her own feelings of getting separated from the mother. The reader can experience poet's pain of separation and a sense of helplessness. The poem has been prescribed for class XII by CBSE India. I would love to hear from you on [email protected] My blogs are available on arupedia.wordpress.com
