Through bright pop beats and personal lyrics, Mara Liddle explores her own journey into adulthood - navigating relationships, leaving behind the comforts of childhood, and becoming independent. Inspired by the likes of Charli XCX, Pinkpantheress, and Shygirl, she (along with producer JB Thomas) has created a body of work that depicts life for a young woman in a world so strongly influenced by the internet.
Her latest song, Oversharing, moves away from lo-fi bedroom pop to energetic electropop. It tells the story of young adulthood, based around Mara’s experiences moving to university and living, for the first time, with a group of strangers. It explores the idea of crossing boundaries and divulging too much personal information.
2023 has seen exciting opportunities for Mara following the release of two new singles from her upcoming EP. With backing from BBC Introducing’s “ones to watch 2023”, Mara has already played festivals and gigs, radio play, and had widespread coverage of her releases.
