“I don’t want this one! I want that one!”
I screamed and pointed to the red dress that the other girl in the store tried on and was twirling in front of the mirror. I watched as Mom pulled out money from her purse and begged the woman to give her the dress. The girl’s mother took the money and the girl burst into tears. Mom collected the dress from the girl and I smiled as we walked towards the cashier.
Hi, my name is Chloe.
My life has always been easy and I always got what I wanted. I went to the best schools, wore the best clothes and had the cutest boyfriends. What more could a girl ask for? I realized that I could get anything from my parents if I made a big enough fuss about it even if it made other people uncomfortable. Every birthday party I had since I was five was bigger and better than the last one; from hot air balloon rides to renting out entire amusement parks for me and my friends. I never asked where my parents worked or where they got the money because frankly I really didn’t care as long as I got what I wanted.
