"Mom! Dad! Breakfast's ready."

My little sister stood at the dining table in our parents' house, waiting patiently to serve them breakfast. 

"OH sweetie you shouldn't have!"

"Just thought I'd do something nice for your anniversary."

"Aww you're such an angel Angel. Get it?"

My mom laughed at her own joke. I rolled my eyes and fake-gagged.

"Mind your manners Adam. Your sister really worked hard on this."

"It's bacon and eggs mom. And it's not even your anniversary! She wants something."

Angel sniffed and wiped her eyes. I couldn't believe my parents were falling for her act! She had done it so many times.

"I'm really sorry I got your anniversary date wrong. I've been so busy with school and volunteering at the animal shelter I got confused."

"OH honey, no need to apologize. Our anniversary is not for another 4 months but it's the thought that counts."

"Wait for it…" I thought to myself.

Angel typed on her phone. A few minutes later she looked up. 

"I had booked a weekend getaway for both of you. I'm trying to cancel but the resort says it's too late.This is not fair!"

"Don't be upset honey, we wish we could go but we are busy this weekend. How about we refund you the money?"

"And there it is." God she was good.
