I went into the kitchen where my mom was sitting, sifting through some flyers and my sister was painting. I instantly cringed at the horrible smell of the paint thinner my sister was using. The smell was overpowering.

“Mom, I’m going out to the town, I’ll be back later” I said.

I grabbed my keys off the counter, but my mom snatched them out of my hand. She motioned at my clothes and said

“You’re not going out dressed like this and smelling stronger than a skunk!”. She always did this, so I just rolled my eyes.
