Overview: In this message, Pastor John looks at three characters in a parable Jesus used to teach important truth. He shares about the father who permits free will decisions - actions, the child who abandons dad - the child who stays with the father. The father illustrates our heavenly Father who permits us to do as we please, even when our choices hurt Him - us. The two sons clearly illustrate two types of God-s children. One wants the Father dead so He can get His inheritance and burn it up on wild living. The other remains in the household, but doesn-t want to share - resents the Father-s love for the sinner who repents. Both children sin but in different ways. We might be tempted to believe we are one or the other, but we can be both. We are not born believing in Christ as our Lord, we are adopted into the household of God- we repent of evil. But we might be tempted to resent those who come to repentance after us and return to the household of God. As God revives the church, we must be on guard against being resentful like the son who stayed home. The time is short, the feast is about to take place- the marriage supper is fast approaching- be watchful-
