'My soul waits for the LORD' (Psalm 130)

Listen Later

'Through this Psalm we see God’s path for us all OUT OF our depths - our darkness - of sin, of all that we carry in our lives, the people and events and things that have profoundly affected us, positive and negative, some very-damaging indeed, causing us to put up walls and harden our hearts, to divide and to fear and to flee (or to fight - to ‘fight-or-flight’) - God’s path for us out of our darkness into the forgiving, healing, and restoring light of Jesus. And the important realization that we MUST realize where we ARE in darkness (or at least be open to God SHOWING THAT TO US) to then be able TO bring it into his light. And we need to know WHO this Jesus person IS to TRUST HIM to do the right thing WITH what we bring to him.'

Sermon preached for the Third Sunday of Epiphany, Year B (January 21st, 2024) by Fr. Luke Childs
