This is my first time ever doing something like this. I've always loved singing, but recording myself is entirely new territory for me.
The song I’ve chosen is a Hindi classic, one of my all-time favorites, called ‘Chura Liya Hai.’ It is a duet performed by two legendary Indian singers Asha Bhosle and Mohommad Rafi. It is quite an old song, released in the year 1973, but it is still lovely as ever.
Here are the lyrics of the song with a little bit of explanation :
The song begins with a woman who addressing her beloved. She says that, although he has stolen her heart, he should never avert his eyes from her. She is asking him to promise her that even though he has changed her life, he should never change himself and forever love her.
In the next verse, she portrays her wish of entering his world like the spring season, but she also fears her days might slip away merely dreaming of this. She sincerely asks her beloved for a promise, a commitment that he belongs to her and her alone.
In response, her lover promises to give up everything he has to bring joy to her life. He is ready to sacrifice even the "blood of his heart," to adorn her lips, praising her beauty. He speaks of showing the world the true meaning of loyalty and love.
I’ve done my best to translate the Hindi lyrics into English. Though, I feel like the deep emotion and beauty of the song cannot be entirely captured in another language. Nonetheless, I hope I was able to give you a glimpse into this timeless classic.
Lastly, I would like to thank @bighungrypanda for recording such a beautiful video.
