Romans 16:25-27 – The gospel that Paul taught was the preaching of Jesus the Christ according to the revelation of the mystery. The preaching of Jesus Christ and the mystery are the same.
• The Scriptures are progressive.
• The mystery had been kept secret for long ages past (1Peter 1:10-13).
• The Scriptures of the OT prophets gave info on the mystery.
• Paul’s focus was according to the commandment of the eternal God and not according to the world.
1 Corinthians 2:1-16
• “Testimony” in older mss is mystery.
• Paul’s focus was exclusively Jesus Christ and his crucifixion. What is the focus of the voice of the church today?
• God had this plan before the age in which we now live.
• If they had known, they would not have crucified him.
• God has revealed them to us through the spirit.
Eph 1:4-10 – Our calling, adoption as sons, redemption, forgiveness, and eternal life are included.
Ephesians 3:1-12
• Gentiles – fellow heirs, fellow members, and fellow partakers of the promise
• Unfathomable riches of Christ
• Manifold wisdom of God
• Eternal purpose
Col 1:13-29 We are delivered from the domain of darkness; we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins; Jesus is the head of the church; we are reconciled, have peace with God; and Christ, the hope of glory, is in us.
Colossians 2:1-3 In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians 4:2-4; Ephesians 6:19 and 20 We should pray in like manner.
Revelation 10:7 When Jesus returns, the mystery is finished.
