Author Helen Starbuck has created a mystery series about an operating room nurse named Annie Collins, drawing on her own experience in the operating room. She's also written and published several standalone romantic suspense novels, including the latest, published last spring, titled The Woman He Used to Know.
We talk about the inspiration for the first of the Annie Collins books, about the pros and cons of using a pen name, and about the best state of mind for an author to use when looking at positive and negative reviews. She is not related to the coffee-making crew, by the way.
Update: Her new book The Killer Without a Face, was published November 14, 2023.
