If you've ever considered starting your own podcast, this episode is for YOU! Now that I've hit 500 downloads and 25 episodes, I am reflecting on Podcast Myths and what you really need to start your own show.
I was guilty of believing some of these myths before becoming a Podcast Host. I didn't start this show with any guarantee that people would listen, or even like it. I didn't start with a large audience. I didn't wait until I had the perfect studio, a functioning blog, or even a system. All I had was my fundamental message, and the passion to share it!
I decided to create this Podcast for two main reasons.
The first is that I've always found podcasts so helpful as an entrepreneur. Can we be real for a minute? Being a solo entrepreneur is a tough and lonely road. In my beginning pivotal months, listening to podcasts from well-developed business leaders is what kept me from quitting before I began.
The second reason is that Industry Leader Amy Porterfield released an episode reflecting on what she wished she started in the beginning of her business. One of these things was a platform to create content on consistently every single week. She said she watched her peers that had done this grow faster than her. And that really resonated with me.
So, at only a few months into creating Camera Brave, I decided to launch the Camera Brave Show. Now, here are all of the thoughts that almost kept me from starting. Do any of them sound familiar?
Listen friend, every single one of those are a LIE! I disproved all of them to myself. And if they are holding you back from building your podcast, listen here.
There are only two things you truly need if you want to start a Podcast...
That is it. The rest you can figure out on your own. The rest you can Google. The rest you are resourceful enough to piece together.
If you've considered starting your own Podcast, I want you to truly ask yourself: what are you waiting for? Because if you're allowing one of those myths above to have power over you, I need you to call it for what it is: a lie. You do know enough. People will listen. Your audience will grow. And I promise you, at no point in time will you ever regret starting it.
