Nahum -- Nineveh, the great city of the Assyrians, is under judgement. With Jonah, there was a chance to repent. Now the time for repentance is over. God is good and compassionate (Nah 1:7, Jon 4:2), but He will not leave the guilty unpunished (Nah 1:3). Nahum is sent to reveal Nineveh’s future: utter desolation. Habakkuk -- The people of Judah have grown wicked, violent, and corrupt. There is no justice in the land that is supposed to be known by God’s name. “Surely, God, you will set things right?”, Habakkuk pleads. God answers, but not in the way Habakkuk expects.
