• Nail infections are common, and it’s worthwhile to understand the potential infectious causes and triggers, such as over-washing or underlying nail tumour

• Nail infections can lead to paronychia or vice versa, causing nail deformities where infections can arise

• Treating nail infections is simple, provided the diagnosis is correct. Simple infections can be treated with topical treatment, however fungal infections may require antibiotics or anti-fungal agents
