In 1701, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac was preparing to found what would eventually become Detroit. However, he was warned not to offend a small red dwarf with piercing eyes, a sharp toothy grin, and maniacal laughter, or else he would lose everything.

Cadillac was very prosperous for the first six years, but then he came across the creature he had been warned about and attempted to strike it with his cane. After that, everything went terribly wrong for him and for the people of Detroit, who still suffer from its curse.
