• use caution with head trauma • can cause dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, respiratory depression • do not use with MAOIs • assess pain • may cause respiratory depression in newborn • asses hemodynamic parameters • may elevate pancreatic enzymes • Narcan (naloxone) is the antidote
