In this episode, I was joined by Nancy Ruth. Nancy is a singer, songwriter, composer, and recording artist. Her Spanish roots eventually led her to Málaga, Spain, where she has been based for the past 20 years or so. An early love of jazz was ignited by family jam sessions while growing up in British Columbia, Canada and she went on to study music at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Douglas College, and Berklee College of Music.

In this excerpt, Nancy talks us through the challenges of being a musician today. We talk shorts and reels, everything you don't learn in music school, and the gig scene in the south of Spain.
