Narcissism is a real problem in both politics and the church.  Both places are suppose to serve people, but too often they look to BE served.  

Here are the 9 traits of a narcissist according to the DSM

  • Grandiose sense of self-importance
  • Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
  • The belief they are special and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people or institutions
  • Need for excessive admiration
  • Sense of entitlement
  • Interpersonally exploitative behaviour
  • Lack of empathy
  • Envy of others or a belief that others are envious of them
  • Demonstration of arrogant and haughty behaviours or attitudes
  •  

    Here is Rhoda's list of 10 things she has seen in Narcissistic pastors:

    • Centers all decision making on themselves
  • Impatient/Can’t listen to others
  • Delegates without giving proper authority/micromanaging
  • Entitlement
  • Threatened by talented staff
  • Needing to be the best and brightest in the room
  • Inconsistency and impulsiveness
  • Praising and withdrawing
  • Intimidating others
  • Fake vulnerability
