Garry Abbott // Joseph, engaged to Mary the mother of Jesus, was asked to trust God despite his own questions, fears, and assumptions. Joseph followed and trusted God, and his actions in his life displayed that. When he was told God’s plans for his son, he trusted that God was telling the truth. And he trusted that Jesus really did come to seek and to save. The key to understanding Joseph’s part in this story is to understand his faith in the God who leads—he trusted him. He looked beyond the circumstances and remembered that God is up to bigger and better things! Just as Joseph was faithful in the part God called him to play, we can also find joy in our faithfulness. Significance comes from faithfulness.
