When I took this picture over 20 years ago, I remember being in complete awe of the beauty I was experiencing at the end of this street. The street sign, “Heaven’s Lane” captured what I was seeing and feeling. Two weeks later, after I got the film developed, I couldn’t wait to see the pictures of that heavenly day again. When I got to this one, I was so surprised by what I saw. Just below the “Heaven’s Lane” sign, buried among the greenery, is another very important sign that I didn’t see when I took the picture. Yes, it’s the “Dead End” sign. Discovering it after the fact made me laugh, and appreciate this picture even more. I enjoy that “heaven” and “dead” are together in one beautiful place. I also like the simple, yet awe-inspiring truth depicted: when we come to a dead end, we discover heaven’s lane.
