Going through a divorce is hard. Then add on family pressures, societal pressures, and religious pressures, and it can lead you to an even deeper downward spiral. In this episode, we are bringing in Noelle McBride, who talks about navigating divorce in the context of a very conservative religion.
Noelle McBride was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. After being blessed with three children during a 17-year marriage, she went through a difficult and heartbreaking divorce. Despite this hardship, Noelle experienced much healing and hope in her personal life through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Desiring to help others navigate the same trial, Noelle shares the promises and peace of the gospel in her book Beauty for Ashes: Divorce and the Latter-day Saint Woman.
She is a professional motivational speaker and teacher with over 20 years of experience counseling many women in groups and one-on-one. Noelle currently leads workshops for women focused on overcoming the trials and the hardships of divorce based on gospel principles. She currently serves as an ordinance worker in the Seattle Temple and in the Stake Relief Society Presidency. After a season as a single parent, Noelle eventually remarried a widower in the Columbia River Temple. They are now raising all 6 of their children together and learning the joys of navigating a blended family. On rainy days you can find her curled up in front of a fire with a warm cup of tea and a good book.
