Have you ever wondered if #NearDeathExperiences are real? We perceive only a fraction of our reality. We live in a world of sights and sounds that we never see nor hear. Albert Einstein contended that although our daily experiences seem to represent reality, the true nature of the universe is much more mysterious and hidden. “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one," he remarked.
Since 1967, the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia has been analyzing some of these hidden realities and evaluating them empirically. One of these phenomena is the Near-Death Experience. The Department has evaluated over 1,000 #NDEs and I am delighted to have its former Director as my guest on this episode of #HaveYouEverWondered? #BruceGreyson has studied near-death experiences for more than 45 years and is one of the world’s leading experts on their science and significance.
Since 1967, the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia has been analyzing some of these hidden realities and evaluating them empirically. One of these phenomena is the Near-Death Experience. Dr. Greyson’s interest in near-death experiences began just a few months after graduating from medical school, when he treated an unconscious patient in the emergency room who stunned him the next morning with an account of leaving her body. That event challenged his beliefs about the mind and the brain, and ultimately led him on a journey to study near-death experiences scientifically, leading to more than a hundred publications in medical journals.
