Negative Reinforcement

Listen Later

Negative reinforcement is an action/substance which when applied to a child prevents them from engaging in certain behavior or causes a reduction in the occurrence of unwanted behavior.

Negative reinforcement can be used for behaviors that are repetitive, deliberate and that the child can modify with relative ease such as spitting, foul language, tardiness, messiness, rudeness and others and can ne used for both NT and ND children as long as they can understand what is going on.
