Negative Thots Live! Nina Davis: "Go through it to get over it... unless it's a fish!"
People at Persephone Grae's Cafe in Manitou Springs Co., were gathered around to hear all of our thots out-loud for the first time ever! Hopefully (and likely) not the last time!
The live recording was part of Manitou Comedy Festival which was founded and produced by our guest Nina Davis.
Nina is a comedian, show producer, improv performer, business woman, cheese monger, death doula, and good friend of our host Samara Suomi. Nina wears all of these hats while wearing a newer (informal-ish) diagnosis of being on the autism spectrum, and we get really deep into the process of diagnosing autism, particularly women. She is also open about her outdated diagnosis of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and what PDA means in terms of autism, not holding hands in public.
Samara and Nina catch up in front of a captive audience with an informative, yet silly conversation about the pricey process of being diagnosed with autism, adults calling kids who don't listen ODD, running a comedy festival with a brain that's always running, masking (no not the act of putting on an actual mask), what fish go in what metaphor, discovering yourself while also learning to love the self you discover, and much more on this LIVE(ly) episode of Negative Thots!
