Hey there, Boss Mom!
I know you work hard to take care of your family. But are you stuck working for a company that doesn't accommodate the fact that you are a mother?
I've also worked for companies like that in the past, so I can relate! For example, your employer insists you work from 8 am until EXACTLY 5 pm. This puts you in traffic, so you're always the last parent to pick up from pre-school. Or, you're little one falls ill, and in addition to the fact that you had to leave him with a nanny for the day, the only doctor's appointment available is outside your lunch hour. Your employer insists you take a half day's leave. Even though the whole appointment would take 45 mins. Sound familiar?
This week's podcast guest is Recruit My Mom CEO, Phillipa Geard. She started her company with the goal of pairing mothers with forward-thinking businesses that could adapt to flexible working arrangements.
Phillipa shares a little about her journey as a businesswoman who needed flexibility and also gives tactical advice on negotiating flexibility at work.
This episode will help prepare you to ask your current employer to rethink your working arrangement. It can also help you find new employment if the company you are with isn't coming to the party.
