In Nehemiah 1, Nehemiah picks up where Ezra left off. They are buddies in the mission of Jerusalem's restoration. He cared enough to ask how God's remnant are doing and found heard the dreaded report that all was not well. They were suffering greatly. He cared enough to mourn this news deeply and cries out to God in fasting and prayer for God's people - because he cared. God put him in this place and position for just this time to help His nation. He gives God every yes and responds to God's call with "Yes, Lord, here I am - send me" Sin is sin, but I really believe one of the worst sins is indifference and not caring for others. Our hearts are to break for the things that break Gods. There are wars everywhere. People are dying. People are starving. People are being held captive. People are homeless. People are being sold for despicable things. Many of these people are children. We need to care. We need to help people any way we can. We need to get on our face before God and repent of the sin of indifference in our nation and rise up and say "Yes, Lord, send me." It's never too late to care, but it's always too soon to quit.
