On November 12th, a 77-year-old woman in Florida, Suzanne Rothermel, was held hostage by her neighbor, Paul Maraio, for hours. Maraio, who had been evicted and shot two other neighbors, revealed his intentions when he asked Rothermel to close her garage door. Rothermel, fearing for her life, was unable to escape until Maraio allowed her and her dog to leave. Maraio later took his own life.
