Corrections says it's improving the way it deals with complaints against prison staff.
A total of 31 allegations of sexual and serious assault were made against staff between 2012 and 2016, however Corrections can't say how many, if any, of the guards were stood down.
Corrections chief custodial officer Neil Beales told Mike Hosking a central data collection system's being developed to better track investigations.
"We need to be able to respond more quickly and more appropriately. But what is not correct to say is that these things don't get looked into, that they get ignored."
Beales says some of the complaints are possibly still under review.
The allegations have only come to light due to poor record keeping by Corrections.
