I first met Nelson "The Cheetah" Vails over 25 years ago at the Nike campus in Oregon, where I was assigned to room with him as an 18-year-old. At the time, I had no idea who he was, but my perspective changed dramatically later that evening during a Nike presentation. I was truly amazed to discover that I was sharing a space with an 1984 Olympic medalist. Since then, I have always admired Nelson not only for his incredible sprinting achievements but also for his vibrant and joyful personality.
