KDM -

KDM is an environmental sociologist with a PhD in Global and Sociocultural Studies researching ecotourism, political ecology, the coloniality of post-disaster recovery for Small Island Developing States in the Caribbean, with focus on Indigenous Kalinago cultural production in the Lesser Antilles, amidst the backdrop of assimilatory Creole nationalist discourses and policies. She grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, currently resides in Miami, and plans to continue research in areas of resiliency, Caribbean sovereignty, and sustainable development during heightened climate impacts disproportionately affecting rural coastal Afro and Indigenous communities in vulnerable island ecosystems.
