Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel was "prepared and ready to immediately receive all of our hostages" from Gaza. The statement was made as part of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, brokered by the U.S., under which the remaining 20 living hostages and the bodies of 28 deceased hostages were to be released on Monday, October 13.
