• Be a problem-solver first and foremost.  No matter your position or function, know the dynamics of the business, what drives the business, and identify ways you can contribute to the most important questions in the business. Be relevant.
• Network, network, network--people are good and want to help.  Ask for help.
• People love to be asked to share their advice.  Ask for advice.
• Break your routines--take calculated risks
• Speak up for yourself--advocate for what you want--ask for the raise, ask for the promotion--the worst that happens is that you hear "no"
