그래서 그녀는 그녀의 일곱 아이들을 불렀고, 말하길

So she called all seven to her and said,

사랑하는 아이들아

dear children,

나는 숲으로 가야만 한단다.

I have to go into the forest,

늑대를 상대할 보호자가 되어야해

be on your guard against the wolf,

만약에 그가 다가온다면

if he comes in,

그는 너의 모든 것을 먹어 치울 거야.

he will devour you all

피부, 머리카락, 그리고 모든 것들을 말야.

- skin, hair, and everything.

그 모질이는 가끔 스스로 변장을 한단다.

The wretch often disguises himself,

하지만 너는 그라는 걸 알아채게 될거야

but you will know him at once

그의 거친 목소리와 검은 발을 통해서

by his rough voice and his black feet.

아이들이 말하길, 사랑하는 엄마

The kids said, dear mother,

우리는 알아서 자신을 잘 챙길거에요.

we will take good care of ourselves,

엄마는 아무 걱정 없이 다녀오실거에요.

you may go away without any anxiety.

그리고 나서 나이든 염소는 한번 매애하고 울었고

Then the old one bleated,

안심하고 그녀의 길을 갔습니다.

and went on her way with an easy mind.
