그리 오랜 시간이 걸리지 않아서

It was not long before

누군가 집의 문을 두드렸습니다.

some one knocked at the house-door

그리고 말하길 문을 열으렴 사랑하는 아이들아

and called, open the door, dear children,

너희 엄마가 여기 왔어.

your mother is here,

그리고 뭔가를 가지고 돌아왔단다

and has brought something back

이 엄마가 너희 각자를 위해서

with her for each of you.

하지만 어린 아이는 알았습니다.

But the little kids knew

그것을 늑대라는 것을요.

that it was the wolf,

걸걸한 목소리를 통해서

by the rough voice.

우리는 문 안열어 줄거에요

We will not open the door,

그들이 소리치길

cried they,

넌 우리 엄마가 아니야.

you are not our mother.

그녀는 부드럽고 유쾌한 목소리를 가졌어.

She has a soft, pleasant voice,

하지만 네 목소리는 거칠어,

but your voice is rough,

너는 늑대야.

you are the wolf.

그래서 늑대는 물러나 상점주인에게 갔고,

Then the wolf went away to a shopkeeper

그를 위한 큰 분필 덩어리를 샀습니다.

and bought himself a great lump of chalk,
