There’s more information and awareness today about neurodivergence than at any other time in history. While that decreases the stigma around being different and increases the resources available post-diagnosis, there’s still quite a bit of confusion, misinformation, and social misconceptions about people whose brains work a bit differently.
While we don’t always have influence over what other people think, being mindful of our own thoughts and perceptions can make all the difference.
What we believe about a diagnosis or label can determine if it’s a source of shame, a hindrance, or a superpower. Understanding what neurodivergence is, and what it is not, can help us as well as our loved ones who function atypically.
In this episode Tiffanee and I discuss out thoughts, observations, questions and personal experiences on this topic. How does your interpretation of a diagnosis influence your relationship with it, and how you see yourself.?
While we are not clinicians, nor are our personal experiences universal, we share interesting (perhaps a bit disturbing) stories and insights that have helped us and we hope it will help you, or someone you love.
