I. The Problem: Misunderstanding Christian Maturity
* External vs. Internal Measures
* Common temptation to measure maturity by attendance, Bible reading, spiritual disciplines
* The Pharisee problem: external excellence masking spiritual death

* Creates "fake it" mentality among members
* Establishes church hierarchy (elite, middle-class, lowest rung)
