Diaz says Birdnesting allows children to remain in the family home while the parents take turns going back and forth.
Diaz says the arrangement is especially helpful for young children as it creates the consistency and routine that is considered critical for healthy development. But Diaz is quick to point out that birdnesting is not a good option in any divorce where abuse may be a factor or where finances may not allow for such options.
