Facebook-owned WhatsApp launched a new 'disappearing messages' feature for users across markets in 2020. But unlike rival platform Telegram's self-destruct timer, that lets users choose the disappearing time ranging from a second to minutes to a week, messages on WhatsApp will stay on for a week before they disappear, if users activate the feature.
WhatsApp also launched 'carts' for businesses and users on the platform. WhatsApp said Catalogs have allowed people to see what’s available and helped businesses organize their chats around particular items and with more shopping happening through chats, it wants to make buying and selling easier.
The company said with carts, which are going live around the world, people can browse a catalog, select multiple products and send the order as one message to the business accounts.
early November, Facebook-owned WhatsApp and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) announced that WhatsApp will start operating UPI payments service.
According to a blog post by WhatsApp, "WhatsApp designed our payments feature in partnership with NPCI using the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), an India-first, real-time payment system that enables transactions with over 160 supported banks."
