New Orleans Redevelopment Project: City Cuts Ties with Lead Firm, Names Local Company as New Lead ContractorNew Orleans officials have announced a significant change in the Lincoln Beach redevelopment project, cutting ties with the lead planning and design firm, Sasaki and Associates Incorporated. The city aims to reduce costs and accelerate the projects completion, following public frustration over delays and unsuccessful negotiations with the previous firm. The new lead contractor for the first phase will be Kenner-based Digital Engineering and Imaging Incorporated. This local company will handle all architectural, coastal, and structural design work. The citys Urban Water Administrator, Meagan Williams, stated that negotiations with the former firm broke down primarily due to cost. The first phase of the project, estimated to cost between seventeen and twenty-three million dollars, includes an access tunnel, a pedestrian bridge, and the removal of deteriorating structures. With this new direction, the city now anticipates Lincoln Beach will open in the fall of 2026, bringing a much-desired recreational space back to the community.
