Angela and Evan are joined by Hugo McDonaugh, Founder & CEO of MyNFT and GBM, and Jesse Johnson, Founder & COO of Pixelcraft Studios, creator of Aavegotchi. The four talk about the origins of GBM and Aavegotchi's synergy, the prospects of multi-chain and what it means for NFTs, as well as the importance of providing creators with toolkits that let them align with their community.
Hugo McDonaugh
Born and raised in the UK, Hugo is a Web3 entrepreneur and a co-founder and CEO of Perpetual Altruism Ltd, the company behind the Cryptograph, GBM and myNFT platforms. He has been a keen follower and proponent of blockchain technology since first discovering Bitcoin in 2013, but it was after discovering Ethereum in 2014 that Hugo really started to get more interested in the blockchain space and since then he has dipped his toes into many different verticals across the cryptosphere. He advises a wide variety of other startups in the space and he is also an avid NFT collector. He also has a background in the impact investment industry and since 2015 he has been an active angel investor across a wide variety of different impact investment and Web3 ventures.
MyNFT is a multichain NFT marketplace that offers low platform fees, fiat onramps, and a variety of purchasing tools supported by GBM. GBM is an auction mechanism that brings in more liquidity and thus higher accuracy and auction prices by giving all bidders a percentage of the final auction pool. With GBM, everyone is a winner, even if they lose the auction!
Jesse Johnson
Jesse Johnson is a product centric founder who has had a leadership role developing some of the most well-known NFT platforms to date including the very first NFT minting platform, Mintable, which is now available on both Ethereum and Zilliqa blockchains. He is also the creator of the Value-Staked NFTs concept as the creator of Bullionix.io which was the first to offer 3D, high resolution digital collectibles staked with gold stable coins. Prior to his work with Ethereum dApps, Jesse was heavily involved on the digital assets exchange side of the industry serving as the head of international development for ZB Group and prior to that served in China for Lenovo Mobile Unit as a Motorola product improvement and mergers specialist.
Pixelcraft Studios is a dev house leading the way towards full ownership of digital assets for gamers. The team is currently building Aavegotchi, an open-source, community-owned NFT gaming protocol.
