Surf Report - New Jersey Shore areas

New Jersey and Delaware Surf Report for 02-17-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, beach lovers! Summer's swan song is here, and we're bringing you the final surf zone forecast for the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches on this last day of September.

Heads up, wave riders: moderate rip current risks are in play across all coastal zones. You'll want to stay alert and stick close to lifeguard stations. The surf's looking consistent with waves ranging 2 to 3 feet - perfect for intermediate surfers and body boarders.

Water temperatures are telling a late summer story - ranging from the lower 60s in Atlantic City to a more inviting upper 60s around Sandy Hook and Cape May. Delaware beaches are sitting pretty in the lower 70s.

Meteorologically speaking, expect mostly cloudy conditions with a slight rain chance in some areas. Northeast winds are cranking between 15 to 20 miles per hour, which will keep things interesting on the water. The UV index is moderate, so sunscreen is still your friend.

Temperature-wise, you're looking at highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s - not bad for the tail end of September. Sunrise kicks off around 6:50 AM, with sunset painting the sky around 6:45 PM.

Pro tip: Check those tide charts! High tides are rolling in early morning, with low tides hitting midday. Barnegat, Cape May, Rehoboth - each has its own rhythm.

One major note: This is the final surf zone forecast for the 2024 season. Tomorrow, October 1st, marks the official close. So make these last waves count, beach warriors!

Stay safe, watch those rip currents, and enjoy the ocean's farewell performance.
