Surf's up, beach lovers! As we wrap up the 2024 beach forecast season, we've got a moderate wave of excitement rolling in along the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches.
Northeast winds are cranking around 15 to 20 miles per hour, stirring up some playful 2 to 3 foot surf. Beach goers, take note - we're looking at a moderate rip current risk, so keep those surf safety skills sharp. Those sneaky currents can catch even experienced swimmers off guard near jetties and piers.
The water's cooling down with temperatures ranging from the lower 60s to upper 60s. Sandy Hook's looking at upper 60s with partly sunny skies, while Atlantic City and Ocean City are expecting mostly cloudy conditions with a slight chance of rain. Delaware beaches are sitting pretty in the lower 70s.
UV levels are moderate, so sunscreen is still your beach buddy. Temperatures will hover in the upper 60s to lower 70s - perfect for that end-of-season beach day.
Tide timing varies slightly by location, but most beaches will see high tide in the early morning around 6:30 to 7:15 AM, with low tide hitting midday. Sunrise is creeping later, around 6:50 to 6:55 AM, with sunset following close behind at 6:42 to 6:47 PM.
Pro tip: Tuesday, October 1st marks the official close of our beach forecast season. So grab your last rays of summer, ride those moderate waves, and stay safe out there, beach warriors!
Catch you on the flip side!
