Our next guest burst onto the hip hop scene for his remix of the breakout single, Mhluzi. The song went onto reach number 1 on 5fm’s The Stir Up’s local top five chart and number 3 on Metro FM’s Absolute five charts. He was nominated for a 2021 SA Hip Hop Award for the Best Remix and the song was recognized on MTV Base’s Freshman Top five playlist. For him, making the music is an extension of his identity and his Xhosa roots. Umbono Wam is affirmation to himself that his dreams are valid.
