The Human Path #1
Wednesdays at 8:00pm Central 9:00pm EST
In this first podcast episode on optics, Sam Coffman talks about binoculars. He answers questions such as:
How do binoculars compare to spotting scopes? How do you answer the question, “What’s the best pair of binoculars for me?” What is magnification vs. objective size? What kind of magnification do I want? Does magnification effect other things besides what I can see? What is FOV? How important is that? What effects twilight performance, and how important is it? What else should I be thinking about if I’m buying binoculars?
Sam Coffman founded and runs the wilderness and urban survival school, “The Human Path,” in San Antonio and Austin, TX. Aside from growing up very close to nature, Sam has over 10 years of military experience as a U.S. Special Forces Medic, an interrogator and a linguist. He has taught survival, self-defense and field medicine for the military, law enforcement and civilians. Classes at The Human Path include plant medicine (herbology), wilderness and urban survival, primitive living skills, outdoor fitness and self-defense, sustainable living, tracking and naturalist subjects, wilderness first aid certification, tactics, leadership and more.
