New Word Monday: Meet-And-Greet

Listen Later

Today Teresa talks about the expression meet-and-greet. This idiom is of the type rhymes with words that have meaning. A meet-and-greet is an organized event during which a celebrity, politician, or other well-known figure meets and talks to the public. Although sometimes we use meet-and-greet to talk about an organized event where you meet someone important but not a famous person. Meet is a word I am sure you're familiar with but you might not be as familiar with the word greet. Maybe you've heard the word greeting. A greeting is something you say to someone when you first see them. A good example of this is hello. So if I see you and I say hello, I greeted you.
