Just as second hand smoke may not seem to be as dangerous as being a smoker yourself, having a relationship with God that is solely based on a secondhand revelation from others is very dangerous. 

It is good to learn from other believers and not forsake the gathering of the brethren, but YOU NEED to cultivate a personal and individual relationship with GOD as this is where a deeper level of growth can be experienced.
